In my case it was in /lib/modules/.....
BUT!, in my case the one that came with the ivtv driver was in a directory called ivtv, and I don't see the same in your description.
So, I recommend to backup both files, and then replace one with th eother and try if everything works fine. You ave only two tries, is not that much.
If I am not wrong this driver has something to do with the audio, so copy try audio and see if it works.
Good luck

After getting the ivtv-0.2.0-rc3 I got that installed (thanks) but it complains about msp3400 being installed in the kernel but I have no ideas how to get this problem fixed. I have som msp3400.ko files lying in
/lib/modules/2.6.9-gentoo-r6/kernel/drivers/media/video/msp3400.ko /usr/src/linux-2.6.9-gentoo-r6/drivers/media/video/msp3400.ko
Thanks for your input!
