I'm using the most lightweight one of all: none! I'm running gentoo and have the following in my inittab: (on line actually)
c7:45:respawn:/bin/su adam -l -c /usr/X11R6/bin/xinit /usr/local/bin/mythfrontend This automatically restarts if X or mythfrontend dies. If I need to do anything but run mythfrontend, I do it from an ssh session, or if that's not working, in runlevel 2.
