I think the ivtv driver puts out a constant PTS stream. When I record with
my pvr350 (I am not using mythtv) I get very nice mpeg2 files that avidemux
has no problems working on. I use the dvd stream outputs of the record,
streamtypes 10,13, and 14. I'm guessing whatever mythtv is doing to convert
to nuv is causing the changes you are seeing.
There is no "conversion to nuv"... it's just a filename extension.
I never had any trouble with it before I tried recording from a tape.
Coming from the cabletv I never noticed any sync problems. I haven't
tried changing the MPEG type, but I guess I'd be skeptical that it would
do much other than remove some padding streams.
