My backend has been dying recently. The /var/log/mythtv/mythbackend.log shows:

DB Error (KickDatabase):
Query was:
SELECT NULL;
Driver error was [2/-1]:
QMYSQL3: Unable to execute query
Database error was:
Lost connection to MySQL server during query

There's nothing in the /var/log/mysqld.log and MySQL has not gone down.

My guess is that MySQL has been swapped out, my drive has gone to
sleep, and thus the response to the query is delayed--causing the
backend to time out. Is there any simple way to tell the backend to
try again or wait longer?

JB
