Same problem for me a few days ago. I think a bug report should be
filed, but the workaround (IIRC) is to uninstall yum, up2date, and the
up2date gnome applet. Then you can (I think) do the upgrade fine. You
might also have to manually reinstall apt and upgrade rpm.
