I can try that, but the thing is, another computer with P-III/866 had no problems with the same resolution.
Do you have either glx or fb support for your video card?

Isn't it too much that X uses 40% CPU while playing on a Celeron 1.3 GHz? I think, X used only a few percent on my P-III/866 back then.
