A theme designed for interlaced output would be great. I've been
thinking about one for a while. The problem is there's also some flicker
from the text, so there would need to be some way of halving the
vertical resolution (while keeping the same size) for the font display
too.
IIRC, using 100dpi fonts in X also had the added bonus of working
well for interlaced monitors. I don't think that they used any single
horizonal lines (at least at reasonable screen sizes). Of course, these
are old-school X bitmapped fonts, not TT or whatever.
