The following suggestions at apt-get dist-upgrade are puzzling to me:

The following packages will be upgraded
  apt cups cups-libs glib2 gtk2 hotplug libgpg-error librpm4.3 libxml2
  libxml2-devel libxml2-python libxml2_2 lirc-lib lm_sensors mysql mysql-devel
  mysql-server rhn-applet rhnlib rpm rpm-build rpm-devel rpm-python
  sane-backends selinux-policy-targeted system-config-samba
  system-config-services up2date up2date-gnome vim-minimal yum
The following packages will be REPLACED:
  kernel-module-alsa-2.6.9-1.681_FC3 (by alsa-kmdl-2.6.9-1.681_FC3)
  kernel-module-video4linux-2.6.9-1.681_FC3 (by
  video4linux-kmdl-2.6.9-1.681_FC3)
The following NEW packages will be installed:
  alsa-kmdl-2.6.9-1.681_FC3 kernel-module-alsa-2.6.9-1.681_FC3smp
  kernel-module-video4linux-2.6.9-1.681_FC3smp kernel-smp#2.6.9-1.681_FC3
  libglib-2.0_0 libgmodule-2.0_0 libgobject-2.0_0 libgthread-2.0_0 nptl-devel
  pythonabi video4linux-kmdl-2.6.9-1.681_FC3
31 upgraded, 11 newly installed, 2 replaced, 0 removed and 0 not upgraded.

Have the normal and smp packages been changed so that I should have SMP
packages on a non smp machine?

Linux saruman.hugo.vanderkooij.org 2.6.9-1.681_FC3 #1 Thu Nov 18 15:10:10 EST
2004 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linu

Any insight would be appriciated.

Hugo.
