I got the hauppauge PVR-350 card for $170. Using just that card I got a working myth system just using my normal PC. I set up X to run two sessions at once, and while the normal X won't display if it's not the current X session, myth's tv output works fine when it's not selected. That's a much cheaper way of getting into myth on a budget - I'll just move the frotend to a new PC when I find a good deal on one that I like (maybe an xbox, maybe a mini-itx or something.
