Mythers, I'm trying to set up my first MythTV system, based on FC3, PVR-250, and Geforce MX 4000 (all on a Dell Optiplex - free is good!).
I'm following Jarod's guide, and in the video card driver install section I run into my first problem: # apt-get install nvidia-graphics6629-kmdl-$KVER results in a "couldn't find package" error. What I have tried so far, all w/ the same "couldn't find package" results: I've tried both 6629 and 6106 nvidia packages in both kernels 2.6.9-1.724_FC3 (first) and -1.681_FC3 (second, after finding that Axel might not have the 724 modules up yet). In each case I have confirmed, via # echo $KVER That the appropriate kernel version value is returned. Verbatim, for each instance: 2.6.9-1.681_FC3 2.6.9-1.724_FC3 Archive search: I only found scant references to the addition of "smp" following the kernel version in the above-mentioned apt-get command. It didn't work for the chap in the thread, nor did it work for me. I realize that I can manually rpm everything as necessary - in fact I've started it. The line that follows the above-mentioned install command (apt-get install nvidia-graphics6629) results in a several-layer-deep dependency cascade. Considering Axel's work, it seems that manually going through all this shouldn't be necessary. (Admittedly, I'd rather not!) Given the lack of pre-existing discussion about this, I do believe that *I* am doing/have done something wrong. Anyone been here/done this? Suggestions = greatly appreciated. Thanks all, Joe Philadelphia, PA, USA
