You got it. Or, the binaries are missing config options that I end up needing, 
I am not implying that the packages are broken.

If you're talking about CPU optimisations, you might have a point for a
few applications.

No, I usualy don't pay much attention to those. I am talking about application 
or library specific options, such as NAS support for qt, the 1st thing that 
comes to mind. 

Hence my reason for liking Slackware. installpkg installs packages without 
complaining about dependencies.
