This is where I am on this: I did an apt-get update && apt-get dist-upgrade This ended up installing/upgrading my box to a new kernel: 2.6.10-1.741_FC3 >From my previous post, you see I also HAD already installed: ivtv-kmdl-2.6.10-1.741_FC3
I rebooted, this loaded up my new 741 kernel instead of 681. I loaded up the ivtv driver [EMAIL PROTECTED] mythtv]# /sbin/depmod -a [EMAIL PROTECTED] mythtv]# /sbin/modprobe ivtv [EMAIL PROTECTED] ~]$ ll /dev/video? crw------- 1 mythtv root 81,0 jan 16 17:22 /dev/video0 So, I guess that is a success! Next, I captured video with no problem, but very, very low sound. Which is vey weird, since my test sound (/usr/bin/aplay /usr/share/sounds/KDE_Startup.wav) is as loud or quiet as I want on my volume knob. This issue is lower on priority list right now. I ran mythtvsetup: set capture on Tuner0, Channel 4 (I have a DirectTV satellite receiver) Started backend, opened new terminal, started frontend when I try to watch TV, I get a black screen. I alt-tab and take a look at my frontend terminal and it is full of error message (sorry not exact, not at home right now to do a copy/paste). Remote encoder not responding Qsocketdevice:: write Bloc: invalid socket 2005-01-16 18:47:01 error writing string list I have a box that manually captures video with very low sound, and that is about it. Again, I have to wonder, is it a kernel issue? if so, do I downgrade? If I downgrade, how do I do it? Please help, now I am begging. "24" and "Alias" are in full swing.
