If you do an apt get of

# apt-get install video4linux-kmdl-$YOUR_KERNEL

and then do an apt-get of

# apt-get install ivtv-kmdl-$YOUR_KERNEL

[check my syntax on the above statements, but it's the general idea]

it seems to fix the problem.  I had the same thing happen when I tried it,
and this seems to be a workaround.  See this post for details.
