The unofficial official answer is that MythTV will never support
illegally decrypting encrypted content from cable or satellite
sources: it might, for instance, eventually support as-is recording of
encrypted content which must then be played back through the original
STB with its access controls in place, but I don't know of any such
devices at the moment anyway.

However, just as xine doesn't officially support playback of DVD's in
the US due to ridiculous DMCA-enabled restraints on the civil
liberties of American citizens, some hacker in Sweden will probably
eventually break the encryption (potentially at cost to his own
freedom and sanity) and you'll thereafter be able to obtain the means
to record the stuff in the clear, albeit technically illegally.

But that's the unofficial unofficial answer. Personally, I'd rather
help the political climate shift to widespread opposition to the
content cartel, because I'd rather be able to exercise my natural fair
use rights in the clear rather than underground.

Cheers,
Kyle
