Well, personally I prefer a web interface over picking music with a remote control. I realize that I can ssh into the mythbox and run mplayer, but I just find it a bit strange that with all the impressive looking streaming web apps that seem to be out there, I can't find a single one that has an option of sending the files to mplayer instead of streaming them.
Netjuke (http://www.netjuke.org) can do that -- it supports three different modes. It can stream files over an http connection, or you can use it to control a shoutcast/icecast playlist, or you can use it to control a server-side playlist (which you would then play with mplayer).
I haven't used it this way myself, so I can't tell you how well it works, but I've been very happy with the web streaming side of things.
note: this is v1 I'm talking about. Development on v1 stopped quite a while ago and the project seemed dead, but recently the developers have started working on v2 and have released a beta or two. Having tried the v2 betas, I'd recommend sticking with v1 at the moment.
