I agree, and want to thank Cecil for this distribution. I am quite comfortable with Linux and have used many distributions over many years, but I chose to use KnoppMyth for my Myth box a year ago because it was already engineered for exactly the application I wanted.
Why may such a statement? It seems as if you stating that KnoppMyth is deficient in some way when compared to MythTV installed on another distro. The point of KnoppMyth is to get a PVR up and running in the easiest/quickest/best (IMHO) manner possible. KnoppMyth will do a major install, it will wipe hda clean, install Linux, all of MythTV's deps, MythTV and all modules (less MythBrowser and MythPhone), Samba, NFS, motion, mplayer and then some... Seems pretty major to me (speaking as a proud (if not somewhat defensive) parent).if you just want to get your feet wet in myth before doing a major install.

I have further tailored the installation to fit my needs, including making it a full blown DVD authoring station, switching to XFS on LVM, and routinely upgrading to the latest Myth and other packages. I have also done quite a bit of compiling of CVS software before packages are made available. Trust me, this is a fully functional distribution that is not limited as far as other uses. You simply need to add what you want. For me this is a much better choice, though I would like to echo to everyone the mantra that they should use what they are most comfortable with. I do think KnoppMyth is especially worth a shot for those building a new box whose primary function is MythTV.
Thanks again, Cecil.
