I like the fact that mythfrontend and mythweb allow you to see a list
of the upcoming movies, and select some for recording. But the list
is pretty long, and I was wondering if there was a way to limit the
list to movies with at least a certain number of stars. I see that
the stars rating is stored as a separate field in the database, so
I was hoping this would be an easy thing to search on.

Yes. In Search Lists->Movies the views are based on stats. If you use the PREVVIEW and NEXTVIEW (Home and End by default) it cycles through All. 4 stars, At least 3 1/2 stars, At least 3 stars and At least 2 stars. I look at the 4 star list all the time. Most of the search pages have views. The New Titles page has views for Movies, Series and Specials which are in your listings for the first time. All the Search Words pages allow you to cycle through each of your stored keywords by simply pressing Home and End.

A related question is whether it is possible to automatically record
all movies with at least a certain number of stars. Might be a nice
feature to have...

You can do this and much more with the new Custom Record feature. One of the examples provided is Sci-fi B-movies which searchs for and records one each of movies that are category Science fiction with 2 stars or less and a release date before 1970.
