Thanks John, I just tried ivtvfbctl -alpha 0; mplayer.... ; ivtvfbctl 255 which gives me full rate video! Unfortunately it seems to be 'zoomed in' in that only about half of the video is fitting on the screen. I'm going to play around a bit and see if I can sort this out. Chris
