Addition to that, I really would like to know if anyone's been able to
get LIRC to work using a normal built in Laptop IRDA port or what about
those supplied by these EPIA boards?? (CIR/FIR ports)
I made my own IR receiver board and connected it up to the serial pins on the motherboard. Then I mounted the receiver inside my case behind a little window meant for IR and it works great! I think I followed the instructions on the lirc web site.
