Ah, I am on x86_64, so I can't use apt-get, I have to use yum (even smartpm doesn't seem to work on x86_64 :|).

However, there doesn't seem to be a package called simply 'gnome' :

$ yum install gnome
Setting up Install Process
Setting up Repos
at-stable 100% |=========================| 951 B 00:00
atrpms 100% |=========================| 951 B 00:00
base 100% |=========================| 1.1 kB 00:00
updates-released 100% |=========================| 951 B 00:00
Reading repository metadata in from local files
at-stable : ################################################## 883/883
atrpms : ################################################## 883/883
base : ################################################## 2852/2852
updates-re: ################################################## 677/677
No Match for argument gnome
Nothing to do

so I did a :

$ yum install gnome\*

which seems to be occupying it nicely - 223 packages :|

I would love to know how to get access to the groups of packages that anaconda lists though...

Max.

"apt-get install gnome"

That should get you up and running with Gnome.

Subject: [mythtv-users] GUI

Hi,

I am trying to build a MythTV system....but I made an error when I installed the OS, and I'd rather not start from scratch again.

The error I made was not to install the windowing system(s) (gnome, etc).

I assume that I do need them. How best to install them again?

I tried to 'upgrade' from the FC3 install disk, but it didn't allow me to select anything to install.

Max.
