I have searched the archives, and I am sure that this has come across
before but I didn't find it in the threads that I read. I am running
FC2 currently with the 2.6.8-1.521 kernel with a pvr350. A month or
two back I wanted to try and get my gamepad to work, but it was to no
avail. So i gave up for a while because the wife was getting pissed
that I was always messing with the mythbox and now she is whining
again about not having her nes emulator.

I need some help compiling the ivtv drivers and since i have never
done this before need some help. I know that there are direction out
there for example like here
(http://ivtv.writeme.ch/tiki-view_faq.php?faqId=1#q11) but since i
have a working mythtv (minus the game emulators) I wanted to get all
my facts straight before I take the risk of hosing my box.

I used Jarods guide to build my box and used the rpms from axel's
site. I have a 2.6.9-1.6 kernel installed and it recognizes my
gamepad so I will just use this kernel. I don't use this box for
anything other than a webserver/ftp server/mythbox so I don't really
need the latest and greates stuff, just something that works. I
believe that that i have the 0.1.10 ck100z driver (not sure since i am
not in front of the box right now) installed and I am happy with the
results but how do i get the new kernel module for ivtv? I checked
axel's site for ivtv kernel modules and found one for the 2.6.9-1.6
kernel but I couldn't manage to get it working so I figured I would
learn how to do it from source which would be more useful anyways. It
is a simple as a few make, make installs? Or is there more to it. If
someone could give me some guidance to what commands I need to execute
I would appreciate it. Also, for the pvr350 tv-out users out there
which is currently the most stable 0.2 ivtv release?

So considering that I already have ivtv drivers on my mythbox do I
have to remove them to install a newer version? would installing new
ivtv drivers write over the old ones? Do I have to reconfigure
everything in terms of getting output over my pvr350's tv-out or is it
kind of like a drop in and nothing else needs to be touched? I just
wanted to get some input since I have a functional box and would like
to take all precautions to keep my mythbox downtime to a minimum and
to know what I am in store for.

thanks for the help and i apologize if this question is redundant.
thanks,
Evan
