The myth's own automount seem to work fine, but i've also done a
binding for mount and eject to a couple of buttons on my remote (using
irexec), mostly use eject tough... could be something for you?

I guess that would work because you say mounting from console does,
this is basically the same thing... then you just make a symlink from
your dvd/cd directory to somewhere the movies directory.
