people PEOPLE! If you want a gmail account, just look through the list, find somebody that says "I have some gmail for you" or something in their sig, and send them an email. Look through the archives, even. Don't email the whole list. It's probably safe to say that anybody who is sending email from a gmail account has 800,000 invites, so they can get one for you.
