Mat, I feel your pain. While I've not looked into it very deeply, I'd
like mythmusic to go in the following directions, and hopefully do
some of it myself. I'm aware other people are working on mythmusic,
and I don't want to tread on any toes, so has anyone approached music
from the following angle?

Most mp3 players are playlist-centric. I'm not, I'm album-centric.
Maybe it's because I'm old enough to own CDs and LPs ;-) So, I
usually want to hear a whole album, and forget about it until it goes
quiet. I don't often want to see much info about individual tracks.

I also want to choose the album by picture because that's how my brain
works. A lot of linux mp3 players can show the picture when a track
is already playing, but that's the wrong way round!

This would just need a picture file path in the musicmetadata table,
and the display and execute code lifted straight out of mythgallery.
Is this stuff in a lib somewhere (yes I know... go and look, but where
to start?)

I'd also like to extend mythweb to control the music player on the
backend. Then I can use my wireless laptop as a remote control from
anywhere in the house.

Oh, and once this is all working, how about the chooser having 'album
pictures' for internet/DVB/FM radio stations and sound feeds from
arbitrary sources. Of course, these are dynamic content and may
require other interface features (record), but for basic operation,
I'd like to listen to the radio sometimes in the same brain-space that
chooses a CD.

Has anyone gone down any of these roads yet?

Andrew
