Miracle of miracles... I added mmx to my gentoo use
variables, re-emerged mplayer and mythfrontend et
voila, the preview video is now the correct colour and
no longer looks like photo negative video.
Now if only I could coax an extra bit of speed out of
my 400mhz mendocino so that the slight video stutter
every couple of seconds would disappear. Glxgears is
still only getting about 90fps so perhaps I still have
my Mach64 not completely configured. I just tested
again and I can play apple.com quicktime movie
trailers at 480x288 resolution using only 50% CPU so I
am still hopeful that I'll be able to get 640x480
MPEG2 video working stutter free.
How do I transcode a sample 640x480 MPEG2 to 320x240
MPEG2 to see if my machine can handle the lower
resolution video?
