Well, it was a series of issues... First of all, I did have to do some of what Jarod outlines in his FC3 steps (adding the install lirc_i2c /sbin/modprobe ivtv; /sbin/modprobe --ignore-install lirc_i2c line to the bottom of modprobe.conf and edit /etc/init.d/lircd, modifying the '# chkconfig: - 90 10' line to '# chkconfig: - 65 10' as well as add '/sbin/modprobe lirc_i2c' to the very top of the start function in /etc/init.d/lircd). With my older kernel this wasn't necessary.
Anyway, this fixed the remote issue and got rid of the i2c error. But then I discovered I had no audio and all of my channels were messed up, i.e. the card would capture, but it was always on Discovery. The addition of : alias tveeprom tveeprom-ivtv alias msp3400 msp3400-ivtv to modprobe fixed those two issues. The audio problem I remembered from before (although I had previously fixed it by renaming msp3400.ko to msp3400.ko.orig in /lib/modules/.... ) However, with my old kernel, the tuner was recognized properly. With this kernel (or with some of the newer drivers/modules) it wasn't recognizing the tuner until I made it load the correct tveeprom. All is good in Mythland again and I'll be leaving it alone for a while. No FC3 for me for a while I guess...
