Not sure what you mean here. I'm using TV out with a PVR-350. I didn't think I had a choice about the resolution.
On the 350 there's apparently no way to adjust the overscan, so you basically have two options:
1. Use a different window manager, which lets you set the virtual screen size and position. I believe ratpoison does this.
2. Or continue using your current window manager, making due with the way X goes off the edge. Then, set MythTV to display itself in a window, and adjust its GUI size/position. (This is what I do.)
