Im a german MythTV user and use XMLtv to get my epg data. Now here's a
little problem I've discovered. The epg data often contains as the name
of a show the name plus the episode number. For example instead of just
saying "Simpsons" for the title, it would say "Simpsons episode 245".
So the problem is, if I want to tell mythtv to record every transmission
of the Simpsons by selecting "Record on this channel at any time" it of
course wont work, since its only searching for titles with that exact
name and episode number.
I would suggest as a solution to implement a edit function into the
title. e.g. When you select to record a show, you can edit the title and
shorten it so that its only the name of the show, and thereby define
that mythtv should record anything with "Simpsons" in the title, even if
that means "Simpsons episode 1" or "Simpsons episode 235".
Another way to do this function would be to implement into one of the
"search for programmes" menus.
Either way, it would be really nice, since its annoying to have to
manually select every show which I want to record.
