I'm just finishing up my own build of MythTV using Fedora Core 3. I've
got a micro-ATX case and motherboard with 2.4GHZ P4, 512MB RAM
200GB hard drive and (3) tuner cards (1 Hauppagge PVR 350 and 2 PVR
250's)

I'm using the PVR 350 for TV out, and the entire X console run's on
there just fine. I've also got an older ATI Radeon All-In-Wonder 128
card in another system
but I haven't tried using it yet, since the PVR 350 is doing a fine
job. I've read several reports that claim the TV out on the ATI card is
wonderful under Linux.
(I really wish the tv capture worked, since then I could fit a 4th
tuner into this box!)

Comments about my configuration:
Now that I'm nearly done, I'm extremely happy with the configuration
and performance of the system.
That said, I've had a VERY hard time with the configuration of the
beast, due mostly to the fact that
the tuner cards I bought are BRAND NEW and have tuners not supported by
the canned kernel distributions
that are out there. (i.e., EVERYTHING involving kernel drivers had to
be installed from source.)
There is an execellent document at http://wilsonet.com/mythtv for
installating Myth under Fedora FC3, including config files for
TV out, Lirc, digital audio setup and more.

I also had no trouble getting TV out to work using KnoppMyth.
Instructions for installing KnoppMyth can be found
at http://knoppmythwiki.homelinux.org/

All of the tv capture cards that I've ever owned have supported both
svhs and composite in and out, so you should not have any worried
there.
If you're looking for a cheap solution on ebay, try finding an older
ATI All-In-Wonder card, like a -Pro or -128 model. These are supported
for video
out, and as a bonus they're AGP so they don't eat a valuable PCI slot
on your micro-ATX box

I'm about to build my first mythtv box, I've been lurking
here for a little over a month and have dug through the
archives as well is google. I believe I have enough info
to pull it off, with one exception TV out.

I'm looking for a easy, (i.e. hardware I can find with out
going used/ebay) TV out solution.

The output will need to be composite, aka RCA, NOT dvi/svid
etc... I will be plugging the output into my Avcast network.

I would also like to be able to have both TV Out and X running
on the console,.

I plan to be running Fedora(1, 2 or 3) and Myth 17 (I'm
waiting until it comes out)

Thanks, Michael...
