[mythtv-users] How can I test pcHDTV HD-3000 card outside of MythTV

A friend helped me setup my box, upgrading to MythTV 0.17 and getting the 
drivers installed for the HD-3000.  When ever I launch the backend with the 
HD-3000 enabled (through mythtvsetup) it crashes complaining of no signal 
strength.

What tool(s) can I use to verify that I am getting a signal and check 
signal strength using the external antenna.
