interesting ... I would have thought it would have to interpret/construct the data before passing it on ... Obviously I'm wrong ... None the less, I'd like to see a card that could handle Component or HDMI/DVI input... That HD3000 card says it can handle composite or SVideo in, so I'd have figured it's at least doing something there? (just need to expand upon that for component I would think, though DVI/HDMI might diverge a bit more .. don't know)

Wish that PCHDTV 3000 card supported component or DVI/HDMI input ... that would solve a lot of issues :/
Grrrr... The pcHDTV cards have nothing to do with HDTV signaling, display, or compression. I believe this confusion comes up because there is really no equivilant to what the pcHDTV cards do. They spit out a compressed mpeg2 stream, yet they have no compression hardware. In fact, if you transmitted XviD modulated with 8VSB over a UHF radio frequency you could probably pick it up and save the stream without changing the drivers. ( if you packed it right. ) The card doesn't know, and doesn't care. Oh well, didn't want to sound mean, just want everyone to be thinking in the right direction.
