As far as the VCO frequencies for H/V on the TV, if it'll do 1080i, it'll do 540p. It's not very likely that it won't do (a correct) 540p, since the signals are *the same* (with one single edge transition on the vertical refresh flipped).Alas, no, the fact it does 1080i doesn't mean it will do 960x540p. It might, but the engineers may not have built it to accept that. Nobody here has made 1080i work over DVI for nvidia cards.
That said, you mentioned specs on the TV. If you can find the actual numbers for the modes it supports, you can build a correct modeline for it. Look through the manuals (user/tech) and try to find things that specify things like:
Active video: XXus Front porch: XXus Sync Pulse: XXus Back porch: XXus etc
