You can do this...

if I try to use keyword search, then take "Record" it schedules all
found shows, but its not permanent in the record table.

Huh?

Let's be clear about "Record". As Kevin pointed out, if you do a
title search for "Junkyard" then press "R" or "I" on "Junkyard Wars"
or "Junkyard Mega-Wars", you would set a record rule for that title
only. To create a search rule, press "M" and choose the "Record"
button on the popup. This will show you a recording options page
with "Junkyard (Title Search)" as the title. I'll assume that's
what you did.

I see that the backend deletes outtimed record entries in the db; the

I think you're trying to over think here. Only the one specific
time items (Single or Override) are removed the day after their
time has past. Search rules are All or Find One and are not deleted by mythfilldatabase.

start-endtime frame of the above "keyword record catchall" if limited to
0-Minutes and hence deleted from the backend.

The start and end date and time are moot for rules that don't need then. They are only relevant for Single, Timeslot and Weekslot.

I don't know what you did or saw but it is possible that you
set a search rule for "Record one showing of this title" which
would remove itself upon successfully recording a match for the
rule. If you want to record all future matches, choose "Record
at any time on any channel".

Hope this helps,
