Hi Tilman,

The LIRC patch I submitted is very small. It adds support for
reading /etc/lircrc if the user lircrc isn't found. I spent a day
trying to troubleshoot why lircd and irw worked fine but mythfrontend
kept dropping the connection to lircd. Turns out LIRC 0.7.0 added
support for falling back to /etc/lircrc when/if ~/.lircrc doesn't
exist. I counted on that to work. (oops)

Well, myth stores the .lircrc in ~/.mythtv/lircrc, and when using
native LIRC access it doesn't fallback to /etc/lircrc without code
intervention. So I intervened. :)

Small but useful. May save someone else a day of troubleshooting.

cheers,
james

As for the frontend: a XBox should be a cheap solution, but I haven't
tested it yet.
I run mythfrontend in window mode (don't forget to restart after
activating it) which can be placed nicely in the viewable area with
preset size and offset. Haven't found a solution for OSD yet :(
What did you patch in LIRC? I noticed that it is necessary to reload
ivtv after using lirc once.

Ciao,
Tilman
