Probably running into the issue of tveeprom not loading, and/or the in-kernel 
msp3400 not working with your newer card. Add these lines to modprobe.conf:

alias tveeprom tveeprom-ivtv
alias msp3400 msp3400-ivtv

My ~2 year old PVR-250 didn't work with the latest in-kernel tveeprom and 
needed the other one via the alias line to function properly. (Just rebuilt 
my master backend over the weekend).
