What you find easiest to administer. If you have cable connections
in both rooms, and you have cash to spend making both systems
run quiet and cool, sure. But ONE of the machines as to
be the master.

This is what I do. I have one REALLY loud, ugly, cool running
machine. Then I have a mix for full-blown PCs or MediaMVPs
running as frontends.

Streaming live TV (or playing videos) would cause the same
potential problems. How would you know (or care) where
a show is phyisically located. To me, this would be a nightmare
to try to keep track of... YMMV.

What works best is what you find easiest to do and can afford
at the same time. I find that having the heat and noise producing
items (like pvr-250, big hard drives, lots of fans, big psu) isolated
to a part of the house where noise doesn't matter is a huge
plus (and savings) in my book. That way, I can spend the
money on nice looking cases and quiet items (like video cards)
for the frontends - if it looks good and works the same all over
the house - then the WAF/KAF is high.
