I compiled from the source packages (both 0.16 and 0.17) to get XvMC
support and fine tune other settings... As far as I can tell everything
that is there went smoothly. (I've not used it too much since I upgraded
though, take it with a grain of salt. And I only had 0.16 up for about a
week prior to upgrading - I'm pretty much a newbie here!) I'm still waiting
for MythVideo but that's about the only issue for me...
