I just had a lightbulb moment tonight.. very subtle one. [bold] MythTV lets you choose any form of deinterlacing you want. XvMC or not. However, chosing anything OTHER than BOB will make your life a living hell. BOB seems to be about the only deinterlacer smart enough not to go ape on progressive sourced data. [/bold] I went to BOB tonight and with both XvMC off and on, it plays fine (as long as you don't hit pause.....). NYPD Blue recorded tonight, native 720P, and I'm watching it as we speak. I think it's the fault of the Nvidia drivers, but I'm not complaining. btw, I have an open thread on the MythDev list about the XvMC / Pause / Prebuffering problem. If you can add backtraces / data to that thread, it might help resolve the master issue this email started under.
