Sorry I can't help with your problem as I'm still only in the MythTV setup stage. But I am very heartened to hear that you had a working DVB-S/CAM implementation in Australia. I'm looking to use a similar setup myself with Austar.

I take it that you are using the old style Foxtel and have not switched to their new digital service ? Also could you please tell me what firmware revision your CAM is (and maybe if you don't mind where you sourced it) ?

Thanks and good luck with getting it going under 0.17.

0.17 is broken for Foxtel access. Not sure why at this stage, but I think it's something to do with tuning and it's a hard one to figure out because the auto-tuning that has been implemented abstracts you far too much from what's going on the background to be able to figure out what it's trying to do (and where it's going wrong!).

My CAM is an Irdeto 2.09b from The Mod Shop in Perth. They do mail order but you can also get them from www.smartgadgets.com.au.

Of course Foxtel Satellite (and even Galaxy Satellite) has always been digital (that's what the D in DVB stands for), but "foxtel digital" is actually a transition to NDS encryption rather than Irdeto. As you will find very quickly through google, you cannot buy an NDS CAM atm so until they become available, you are well advised to steer clear of upgrading to the "foxtel digital" service and stick with the plain old (still digital) "foxtel analogue" subscription.

If you need help getting everything configured then let me know, I've done it enough times now to know all the pitfalls. The biggest gotcha is to make sure you stick a ruddy great big fan over the top of the DVB-S card - when it overheats it will stop working. This one had me stumped for about six months!

Denis.
