Is it actually a necessity to build a new kernel? I was under the impression 
the drivers could be built externally. ATrpms has dvb kernel modules in the 
testing repo for the latest FC3 kernels, though they're cut off cvs of three 
or four weeks ago...

The PVR-500 only works with the latest 0.3.x ivtv drivers.
