I've tried turning off the screensaver in KDE, but that didn't fix it. I guess I need to go deeper, and disable it in X or the BIOS. While watching TV, the screen would blank after 5-10 seconds, and then just hang for maybe 30 seconds. Then it would drop me out to the menu. This was driving me nutz for quite some time, until I restarted the backend. Now it works fine. So, I guess I'll have to play with the startup order, as it seems that mythbackend is starting up before something that is needed is running.
