I am experiencing a problem when viewing HD content in mythtv. My
experiences are as follows:

If I watch livetv, and the pchdtv tuner is on a 1080i channel like
NBC, I get perfect audio and video. Switching to another 1080i
channel like CBS also produces perfect audio and video. As soon as I
switch to a 720p channel like FOX, the video is horribly choppy, and
the audio is choppy if there is any audio at all.

If I then leave the tuner on the choppy 720p FOX station, and exit
livetv, the next time I watch livetv, the 720p FOX plays audio and
video perfectly! I do not have any other stations where I live to
test if switching to another 720p station retains the perfect
audio/video sync. However, if I switch now from the perfectly working
720p on FOX to the aformentioned 1080i stations (NBC or CBS), my audio
and video is horribly choppy again. It is slightly different in that
the video also has horizontal 'lines' through it in addition to just
being horribly choppy.

Of course, if I leave the channel on the 1080i station, exit livetv,
and return to livetv on the 1080i station, all is well again until I
switch the channel to 720p FOX again, and the whole circle continues.

I am unable to compile the xine-HD package on my system, so I cannot
confirm if this happens also in Xine.

Please respond to this if you have similar experiences, or of course,
if you have found a fix. I had hoped that upgrading to 0.17 would fix
this issue, but hasn't. I have tried the above scenario with both
mpeg decoders in myth, and the issue is the same.

Lastly: I have spoken with at least 5 other HD myth users in
#mythtv-users, and they all seem to have the same problem. Some of
these users, interestingly, claim to have the same issue on their
air2pc card, so I am not sure if this is really a pchdtv issue. The
pchdtv bulletin board has no mention of this problem, and my request
for information about it has gone *unanswered*.

Also: since upgrading to 0.17, my subchannel for my local CBS
affiliate does not come up when browsing channels. The subchannel is
listed as visible in setup -->channel editor, and is interestingly
present in the program guide of mythtv. Is anyone having issues
seeing subchannels since upgrading to 0.17?

pchdtv3000
Version 1.5 drivers
Mandrake 9.2 & Suse 9.1 systems both exhibit this problem for me.
if there are any more useful statistics, please let me know and I will
provide them.

Thank you,

David Hofstra
