I just had an epiphany. You're using the lircd.conf for the 3rd-gen Hauppauge 
remote and the lircrc for the 2nd-gen one. That's likely the source of your 
problems. See the latest guide rev for clarification on which remote is 
which. I don't have an lircrc file for the 3rd-gen remote posted yet, but 
will before much longer, courtesy of Brad Templeton.
