Hi All,

Although this box is not running MythTV, the specifications and its cost are
rather impressive.

First some background on Foxtel:
Foxtel DVB-S has around 100 channels. Many channels are also repeated 2
hours later in case you missed the original showing or were watching
something else. Subscriptions range depending upon which channels you want,
but average monthly subscription is around AUD$80/month (around
US$63/month).

Now the PVR cost:
For a once-off fee of AUD$495 (US$390) and an additional AUD$5.95/month
(US$4.70/month) you get a PVR solution.

The PVR specifications are:
Dual tuners
Stores 60 hours of content (Foxtel is SDTV AC5.1) - so maybe 120GB hard disk
in there
Can record 2 two programs and watch a recorded program simulatenously.
Allows you to pause "live" TV.
Built-in EPG
Allows you to record most pay-per-view movies (it will retain them for 2
days only)
S-Video/RGB/Composite Video Out, Optical S/PDIF audio out
No ad skip functionality (although FF/RW through adverts is allowed - most
ads on Foxtel are limited to TV show and Foxtel promos).
