Two suggestions:

First, email the list, not me directly. I think I've accidentally done
this myself over the past few days, using gmail, so no harm done.
However, if I can't help you someone else might be able to, but not if
you only email to me. Also, if we were to solve the issue, the
troubleshooting steps and solution would not be archived on the list,
and therefore would not provide help to others in the future.

Second, I also ran into this issue the first time I started MythTV.
However, I can't recall exactly what I did to fix it. I think I may
have had to do one or more of the following:

Restart 'mythbackend'
Reload ivtv driver
Change the IP of my database back to the loopback (127.0.0.1), as I
was trying to use the box's hostname.

I've copied this back to the list, so if none of this helps perhaps
someone else will be able to answer the question for you.
