While that user did indicate what he was downloading was a TV Show,
bittorrent has now become a common way for people to legitimately distribute
their own independent films. (It's also the way I donwload my linux
distros, but that has less to do with MythTV.)

It seems to me that efficiently downloading an independent film and playing
it on your TV is exactly what one should imagine MythVideo is for.

I understand the fear and frustration over raising the ire of the
anti-bittorrent forces in the world, though as far as I know they have
not cared about the players at all, and care about the recorders, rippers and
distribution systems. But if we give in to that, isn't that exactly
what they want?

So I can see deciding that discussion of copyright infringement is
off-topic on this list, but your statement (no support for bittorrent, PERIOD)
is like saying "no support for FTP, PERIOD"

Bittorrent is the best program for transferring large files of all sorts.
So yes, that means it is heavily used by those wanting to transfer
copyrighted videos -- why wouldn't they want to use the best? -- but
you're blaming the tool, not the user here. Which is what the MPAA wants
you to do.
