Commercial skip is not the same as pressing the skip button on your remote.

Commercial skip (single jump from start to end of commercial break) is
done by the commercial flagging process. It is configurable on the
"Playback" section of the "TV Settings" section of setup in the Myth
front end.

You need to turn on "Autmoatically Flag Commercials" (Or manually
trigger commercial flagging in the job options dialog in Watch
Recordings). You should pick the type of commercial flagging to use
(the new "All" is pretty good, although none of them are perfect. It
is "only" guessing at the commercials based on coding logic, so all in
all it does a good job. Things like Tribal Council of Survivor always
seem to false skip, and lately, any show with a final 30-60 second
"goodbye" section before credits roll seems to get skipped (e.g. Last
Call with Carson Daly).
You then need to also turn on "Automatically Skip Commercials" as well
to have ti just jump for you.

FYI, the skip you are doing when you press skip on the remote is a
fixed skip amount that is configurable on the screen before the
Commercial skip one described above. There are three values to set. I
can't remember the defaults, but I have Fast forward at 30 (~ one
commercial), rewind I have at 10 (in case anything overshoots) and
jump (which on my remote I have configured as the prev/next chapter
button) is 2 minutes. These values work very well for me if/when the
commercial skip does not work. Usually I do a jump (2 minutes) then a
couple of skips until the show is on, then back up in 10 seconds
steps to get to the start, even without auto commercial skip, you can
jump the commercials in just a few seconds.

I also have Smart Fast Forwarding: On, which i find quite handy/intuitive.
