Thanks Pascal.

When I install SqlServer in my Mini, following the instruccions of http://www.mythtv.info/moin.cgi/MythOnMacOsx , i do this:

6. MySQL
Again, there's nothing too complicated. You only need the client library from MySQL, so these commands turn off a lot of the parts that the installation offers.
<x-tad-smaller>curl http://mysql.mirrors.pair.com/Downloads/MySQL-4.1/mysql-4.1.9.tar.gz | tar -xz
cd mysql-4.1.9
./configure --disable-static --without-debug \
--without-server --without-geometry \
--without-extra-tools --without-docs \
--without-man --without-bench
make LDFLAGS="-no-undefined -Wl,-prebind,-seg1addr,0xC2000000"
sudo make install
cd ..
</x-tad-smaller>
And the problem persist (i can´t locate the MySQL database).

Could you help me?

Thanks

All information about your music, video, and pictures are stored in a
database. So it is not possible to run the myth frontend without
having at least the database set up. You can do this locally on the
mac if that is were you are planning on storing the media files,
however most people will set this up on another pc where they have
more storage space. To do that you have to make sure your mini mac is
part of your home network.

ThanksBrad and Max.

I have a problem, when I install MythTV 0,17 Frontend, it requires the
sql info (host name, address .....), and doesn´t start.
The problem I have is:

:~ Powermac$
/Users/Powermac/Desktop/MythFrontend.app/Contents/MacOS/mythfrontend
2005-02-23 09:24:08.839 Using runtime prefix =
/Users/Powermac/Desktop/MythFrontend.app/Contents/Resources
2005-02-23 09:24:08.847 DBHostName is not set in mysql.txt
2005-02-23 09:24:08.847 DBUserName is not set in mysql.txt
2005-02-23 09:24:08.847 DBPassword is not set in mysql.txt
2005-02-23 09:24:08.847 DBName is not set in mysql.txt

I download it from http://whpress.com/mythtv/ MythFrontend — 0.17
release (with plugins)

Hi,

I´m looking for install Mythtv frontend to a Mini Mac 1,5 (coneccted
to
a PlasmaTV).

Is possible install the frontend without a linux machine with
backend?

To my knowledge only the frontend currently works on OSX. And a
frontend without a backend won't do you much good since the backend
handles all of the video capture, etc. It should be possible to use
some portions of the frontend (MythMusic, maybe MythVideo) without a
backend as long as you have a mysql server somewhere with the mythtv
database set up correctly, but you definitely won't be able to use any
of the tv functions.

I have a front end without a back end. I don't use the TV
viewing/recording, and the other things (inc. MythVideo) seem to work
well enough, though I haven't tested everything
(music/phone/games/etc).

Hrm. Second thoughts, perhaps the back end *is* now working, since I
started using the Suite...but I don't think it is actually used for
anything (could be wrong there).

Max.
