There are some Dell specific user comments on the emu10k1 driver page at the alsa-project home page: http://www.alsa-project.org/alsa-doc/doc-php/template.php?company=Creative+Labs&card=Sound+Blaster+Live+Value.&chip=emu10k1&module=emu10k1 It looks like it's possible that it's not supported by the emu10k1 driver.
