I added the line. Seems to be working just fine, although it worked
fine without too. Dunno. I'll leave it that way for now.

Earlier in the thread you mentioned your mythrestart script, because I
was having trouble with the one from Jarod's guide. Well, I have them
both working now, whichever one I choose to use will stop the frontend
or start it if it is not running.
However, upon startup, two instances of mythfrontend will start up.
This causes all sorts of audio and video problems when I don't realize
that it's happened. Once I shutdown one of the instances, everything
is fine again.

When I reboot, only one mythfrontend is started. However, I don't know
where it is coming from. I originally fixed this by commenting it out
in my myth-load.sh script, because a few days back I was having
trouble with two instances starting at boot. I think this is
contributing to the problem with the power button script, but since I
can't figure out how mythfrontend is being run, I'm just not sure.

Any suggestions on where to look? This is making me nutz.
